Interlam Decorative Panelling
Art Diffusion
Art Diffusion panels by Interlam are homogeneously coloured or plain MDF panels whose surfaces have been carved or sculpted into dramatic organic forms with CNC routers. The machining is done by Modular Wood Systems, Interlam’s manufacturing sister company. Interlam itself was founded in the late 1980’s as an importer of high-end decorative surfaces and components.
The patterns can be carved into 1220mm x 2440mm sheets of MDF, and the execution of the board so precise that panels can be mounted edge-to-edge in perfect alignment. The machining is so perfect, within two-thousandths of an inch and the repeatability is so phenomenal that panels can be matched on any of their four edges for a seamless look.
Art Diffusion panels are created with a variety of finishes from raw (coloured or plain) MDF, to latex paint, to lacquers, polyesters, membrane pressed foils and metallic finishes. Interlam have also discovered a process for bonding metal particles to the panels and more recently coloured sand.
Art Diffusion exists currently in some 50 patterns. Please click here for online gallery of patterns.
